A Quick Note about Props

Just a quick note about props: Don't rely on them. Props are often a crutch for photographers who don't know how to pose their clients. Sure, a photo or two with a pumpkin in fall, or a chalkboard to commemorate a milestone in a child's life are great, but you need to know how to POSE your clients, without them looking posed! Your "props" should be simple, like a stunning handmade quilt for your clients to sit on. I consider my clients clothing a prop, which is why I work to help them find the perfect outfit for their session.
Ideally, poses are meant to look natural and believable. Posing is such a huge aspect of photography that I've created a separate guide to posing (Coming Soon!) to help you achieve reliable, comfortable and stunning poses for your clients.
